Advisor Rulebook
Every SEC-registered investment adviser files Form ADV, a public disclosure of its size, fee arrangements, services, custody practices, and disciplinary history. This site puts that public record in readable form, firm by firm, and explains the documents every advisory client is owed. No public record reports investment performance, and this site never pretends otherwise.
I am Dan Swenson, a data nerd who is also a Minnesota workers' compensation attorney and a city council member. I build these sites as a hobby to make public records, government rules, and license registries easy to find and use. The tools are free. The network pays for itself through disclosed referral links and a few optional paid guides.
More about why I build these
Advisor Rulebook is an independent educational site and is not an investment adviser, a broker, or a law firm. Nothing here is legal, financial, or investment advice, and nothing here recommends any firm.
Firm figures on this site come from the SEC's public Form ADV data, reported by each firm itself. No public dataset reports investment performance, and this site never ranks advisers by results. Assets under management is a size measure, not a quality score.
This site is part of the Buddy Network, a collection of Minnesota consumer tools built by attorney Dan Swenson.
